Yes it is a Captain itch crotch cooler. Between that, the EITMS and an oil cooler the engine heat doesn't bother me at all. Iv still mulling over love jugs but Im waiting to see how things go this summer. I doubt I will need them tho.
It's a setting in the ECM. When the temp reaches a certain point the rear injector stops pumping gas and starts pumping air into the cylinder to cool it down.
Is that something I have to have done or does the bike come that way?

The dealer will have to turn it on. You can read about it in your owner's manual. If you have a fuel pack 3 tuner from V&H you can turn it on yourself.
You probably need to go get it turned on then. It's off by default from the factory. People with touring bikes can turn it off and on at will. Us lowly softailers have to go through the dealer or get a tuner that supports changing the settings in the ECM. I know the FP3 does, not sure about Power Vision or the others.
I guess, y’all deal with different stuff in the south. I hope it works out long-term for ya.
And thank you
Depends where you live down here. If you're in or near a city in a lot of stop and go yea, it'll cook your leg pretty bad. You either get rid of the bike or get something to go in between to protect yourself.
The EITMS helps a ton but neither the cooler or the EITMS is really enough by itself. Most people don't have a clue about the EITMS. The dealer doesn't mention it.
It pays to read the owner's manual before you put your name on the line. The dealer wants to get you out ASAP and charge you when you come back. When really, you should be getting them to preload the shocks, turn on the EITMS, etc... before you leave the lot.
