Metzeler ME880's, model # comparo?
One more question for today, if y'all don't mind...
Time for a tire upgrade, like what I'm hearing about the Metzelers, specifically the ME880's. I used to run Metzelers on my Metric bike.
Now I need to confirm is the stock Dunlop MH90-21 the same as the Metzeler 880 size 90/90H-21? I looked at the Metzeler chart and I'm still confused, I can't buy online and risk buying the wrong tire because of the seller's no-return policy. Thanks in advance for any assist.

I found the best online prices for my ME880 whitewalls at Ron Ayers. I'd call their 800 number and ask your question. They're pretty knowledgeable.
BTW, I found a local shop that was willing to sell me the same tires at Ron Ayers price +$10 per tire. The advantage was that they then charged less for mounting and balancing than if I'd bought them on my own, and they stand behind the tire in case of defects. Might be worth looking around your area for the best price locally.

Good thinking, and thanks.
Last time I tried to run that kind of deal with the local Yamaha dealer, you know - build a relationship with the guy/shop...he wouldn't change his price regardless whether I purchased the tires there or online, mounting/balancing was the same and no break on the tires. F me? F-him. Took my business elsewhere is all.

The 90/90H-21 will fit the 21" front wheel just fine! That's the one I have on my 05 Night Train.
Cheers!

I bought my ME880s from Ron Ayers too. Great prices! Even with shipping to Canada, and exchange, I saved over 100 bucks on the pair, and my dealer charged me the same rate to mount and balance them as I would have paid had I bought the tires from them.

I ordered them this a.m. Glad I called them...apparently according to the Ron Ayers guy (he was looking at the chart) the MH90-21 converts to the Metzeler 80/90-21...the Dunlop 'MJ90' converts to the Metzeler 90/90. Good to know also since the 80/90-21 was twenty bucks cheaper. [8D]
