Default School me on the Shotgun Shock

Installed mine last week on my 15 Deluxe. Love the look it gives the bike and I like the ride but I must say its a very boat like ride and very soft. So far all I've been doing is using both switches up to raise it all the way up then letting it run for an additional 10 seconds or so. Not sure why to do the additional time but every video I've found says to do it. Then I'll bump the rear switch (rebound) down a couple of times to lower it to ride height. When I get on it its very springy and not firm like the stock shocks were. According to the instructions I can push up the front switch (compression) to firm it up but I've tried this and it doesn't get any firmer. Is the ride I'm getting just naturally how air ride feels and I'm not used to it or am I missing something? I believe my system is working right because I can dump the air, fill it up, adjust rebound etc.

Thanks for any help or tips

Best suggestion I can make is to stop watching videos and read the instructions that came with the shocks. You are not setting the rebound properly

To firm suspension, front switch up only

Yeah, like jcapps said, after you lower it to ride height you can use the front switch (up) to add more air and stiffen the ride...

Both switches up and hold the ten seconds The fills the front and adjust height, and empties the rear. Then bump the front down to make room for the rear to accept air, this is your rebound setting (bounce).

Well these are the instructions I received and I believe I am doing damn near exactly what they say to do. And the videos I'm watching are the ones JD from SS posted on YouTube. I guess my problem is when I flip the front switch up it doesn't feel like it's getting any firmer. Maybe I'm not holding it up long enough?

If you feel like a boat ride, it's too soft and dangerous

After you set the ride height. you can make a stiffer ride by just holding the front switch up
I have a bad memory and just finished my bike, I need to try and memorize this stuff.........lol

I'm assuming your bike has ABS? I found that no matter how long I left the pump to run for, I just couldn't get the ride as firm as the stock shocks. I think it might be to do with the smaller compressor that's used on the ABS version. So it's fine, and very comfortable most of the time. But after the shotgun shocks failed to keep the back end on the ground on a particularly fast and bumpy corner last month, I've take the shotguns off and returned to the stock shocks. Yes, they're no-where near as comfortable, but I feel more confident in the grip than I felt last month with the shotgun. And the comfort just isn't worth it to me any more after taking a corner on just the front wheel.
