Default Fuel gauge 04 night train

Installed apes last month. Been raining a lot so haven't been riding much. After reinstalling tank, that was drained a lot b4 removing, ride to gas station fuel light was on. Filled it up. Showed 3/4. Ok I really don't like to fill all the way up unless I'm going somewhere as it gets screaming got in my garage. Don't want fuel pushing out the vent. Filled it up this weekend b4heading out. Rode 130 miles and was still on full. Filled it up and it took 2 gallons. Any thoughts?

You rode 130 miles and it only took 2 gallons to fill it up? 65 MPG is not likely. Are you really filling it or just putting in what you think it should take? Did the gauge show full when the low fuel light was on? Sounds like the float is stuck or your gauge is toast.

I guessed on how much to fill it. May need more to be full. After tank reinstall the gauge was less than 1/8 of a tank when the light was on. It has a factory gauge. Was gonna run it for 100 miles and check resistance through the sensor. Any ohm readings for full and empty? Have a factory service manual on the way. Won't be here til Monday. Thanks for the help.

Check for pinched wires under the fuel tank. Sounds like it was working okay before your ride. May have worn through the insulation and be grounding out. That would cause a high current draw in the sensing loop making it read higher than it should.
