If the turn signals are acting up, ie not self canceling, it could also be the speed sensor.....

Just take the StreegtGlide out... Harry won't mind

I have the same issue since the 1st year I had the bike ('07). It would only happen once or twice a year. After the first few years I did the stage 1 as recommended by everyone to cut down on heat - issue still around. A few years later I replaced the TPS - issue still around. Then I cleaned the IAC - issue still around.

The only thing left is to replace the IAC. I recommend you start there. With that being said, I haven't had any electrical issues (signal lights or horn) with mine.

Alcotune, was the iac easy to replace on your own? Was going to start plunking around on the bike now but a storm had to pop up the second I opened the door b

So, to update the situation I'm now feeling pretty stupid. My bf and i do pretty much all of our own work but we neglected some very important and very simple clues. Since we BOTH do the work, he thought I checked/cleaned my air filter and I figured he did. Well, neither of us did so when we took it off to clean the iac, what we saw was a bit shocking. Filthy filter coated with oil.
Also, my rear brake reservoir is warped from heat, as are my chrome bolt caps on numerous places on the bike. These have been on for a couple years with no issues.
I'm thinking maybe (hopefully) nothing is wrong except that I've been starving my bike of air abs over heating her. Makes sense to me that if she is getting no air and over heating, she'd blow oil.
I'll grab a new filter tomorrow and see how she fares.
Maybe my stupidity will help some one remember to check obvious things.
