Default Painting hardware (bolts etc) or other option

What are you folks using to paint hardware...ie: bolts, washers, spacers...etc? Problem is,you use a wrench and the paint flakes off.

I imagine you can't really powdercoat the stuff...or the threads may bind?

Yes, I've roughed it up for the paint to adhere better...but it still gets gunked when it gets hit with the tools.

Powder it. All they do is tape the threads spray it then throw it in the oven. If you have any interest in learning how to powder, small hardware is an awesome place to start. Cheap powder gun from Harbor Freight and a cheap toaster oven from Walmart and you're good to go.

pc mine all of time on builds...works ok even with the star ends...i sometimes dip the ends of my t-handles in rubber dip to protect allitle more when tightening them...or if you want to get real trick you get annodized black titanium bolts...but not much use for weight savings on these pigs..mainly a sportbike/racebike thing...you can also get them drilled for safety wiring!

I just replaced mine with black steel bolts and used Wizards power seal over them. Seals any metals with an acrylic clear coat.
