Default oil mist on oil tank 99 flstc

hello all . My sons been using bike bike to go back and forth to work .about 4 miles each way all city driving and it been above 80 ever day. what I notice is a mist oil oil on the oil tank below the fill. I have checked everything in front and it ll feels dry . Dip stick is just fancy plug no stick. Any ideas on poboblem and how to check oil level. I bought temp guage for it but no line on it also . thanks joe

The mist is most likely blow by from the breathers in the heads. They will drip some oil into your air cleaner which will then blow back onto the oil bag....This is not an uncommon thing at all. Try removing a few ounces of oil from the oil bag and see if it stops.

thank I have to get myself a correct dip stick it looks like .

Replace all your o-rings at the breathers and the fill spout plug.Pretty common when they get a little hard.

You don`t need a dipstick to measure oil level on a Softail, just get the bike upright and look into the tank, the level should be about an inch to and an inch and a half below the bottom of the filler neck.
