Don't do it, you'll void your warranty. LMAO!

If you do it, screw your oil filter on super tight - that way if you take it in for service they'll just think you had the oil changed at another dealership.

I find you usually over pay for anything, besides the bikes of course, that is Harley brand and the quality is not nearly as good as the after market equivalents.

Default Oil Changes

Doesn't matter which forums I go to there is always a debate about oil. As long as you use a good quality oil, and change it between 2500 and 5k you shouldn't have any problems. Dad ran Caster Oil 20w50 in all the cars that we owned 4cyl to V8, most had 250K and still going strong. Bikes I know are different, when I switched over to Amsoil in the bikes I also went to 5k change intervals. I have 50k on my FLHTP and the wife has 35k on her SG, no issues, knock on wood. I also have been using Amsoil in the primary for about 35k. Clutch went last year at about 45k, but I'm a Rider Coach and I teach and attend several advanced classes a year. All that said I don't think 45k was too bad. The point is pick a good oil change it regularly with a good filter and go have fun.

That is not the way the engine is designed. If more than a few ounces are in your sump at any time, you have an issue that should be fixed........

Whether it's a pinched/bad o-ring or a totally worn out oil pump causing the engine to sump, it will only get worse and should be addressed.....

I was referring to the "small blocks" in the post that I quoted.

Actually there is quite a bit in the sump and cam galley. If you drain them, it will drop the stick level over 1/2 way.. It is constantly being drained off and dumped on. If you read the oil system in a service manual, you will see as designed that's it's purpose is to lubricate the crankshaft bearings, the sprocket bearing in the left crankcase half and the inner cam bearings... It runs a level even with the lip on the sump drain cup...and this level also in the cam galley.

I just stopped by to see if this "oil" thread went the same way the other blue million did.

It did

The subjects we have left for discussion are:

Religion

Politics

Gun Control

LBGT issues

62,000 miles, with Rotella T 15W-40, and Redline in the tranny. Must be working.
