I switched to M-1 20-50 V-twin 5-6 yrs ago and still happy with it.

I'll add If the M-1 oil your using is not for motorcycles like - V-twin, then I would not use it in the Primary because it has friction modifiers for engines in it which would not be what you want with the wet clutch in there.

lol...was a time the 'mods' would move this quickly on over to the tech/mech oil forum. They've lightened up a lot the last couple of years.

As far as oil goes, all I would use was M1 V-Twin 20-50 with my Fatboy 95CI. Now that I have the Deluxe which was cammed I will only use Amsoil. Living in FL with the heat/traffic, flash point of the oil got my attention. I believe M1 V-Twin is 214 and Amsoil is 242 or close to those numbers? Kind of like a no brainer for me. Cost a few dollas more but...

There is no reason to waste a quart of oil at every oil change.

No engine manufacturer recommends, or even suggests a practice like this.

And no detriment either, .... in fact it could only do more good then harm, ......

I don`t believe it does one bit of good, and if you are using 10 dollar per quart motor oil, you are wasting 200 bucks and 20 quarts of perfectly good motor oil in 100k miles.

As to not doing harm, that depends on how you are going about this flushing process that you say must always be done...

In 45 years of working on motorcycles, and 41 years as a professional aircraft mechanic, I have never known anyone who recommended this practice, until I saw it on a Harley Forum...

+1...exactly. I remember building small blocks in my youth. We always ran a detergent oil first 100 miles to clean the system out, then put our choice of fluids in. I'm tryin to figure out wtf one quart would accomplish on a scoot.

The difference in the example you used is that within a few minutes of turning the motor off, ALL the oil runs to the sump, and easily drained from there.
