Default Engine upgrade

I'm looking for any advice towards an engine upgrade on a 2007 FLSTF. I'm leaning towards a 103 stage 4. So far I think a cam swap will be necessary to really bump up the TQ and HP numbers. Is there any extra little surprises I should be aware of? Any work needed to the bottom end? Any feed back/help towards this project is appreciated. What cams would be the best fit? Can the stock transmission handle the upgrade?
Thanks in advance

I'm guessing you want to stay HD, the S&S 111 would another worthy choice.

I'm not picky on the name, I'm more interested in the best bang for my buck with the cams. And of course compatibility.

Don't rule out S&S then, call them up and get a general idea of whats entailed and price.
There has to be builders up in your area if this is something you're not comfortable doing yourself.

I'm looking as we speak for builders up in Winnipeg Canada. Once this project is complete I will post HP & TQ numbers. I'm at 66hp and 85 FTLBS

Stick with Harley parts if you travel. They'll shine you on if you show up with S&S stamped all over the engine. As for what you want will determine what you will need. Your bottom end needs to be cked for runout on the pinion side and if in spec(Harley's in spec is quite a bit broader than most of us like) your bottom end will be fine with the 103 upgrade. Stay under 10.5 on compression and have the heads massaged a bit and a good tune. You should be golden.

Dang Snowy, I've seen quite a few in here slap S&S jugs on their scoots. I've seen a lot of folks convert their HDs over to S&S down around me area too, we refer to them as 'sleepers'.

I've never run across anyone diss them for their upgrades especially over the S&S logos. They did get a lot of positive comments tho.
With that said, your advice to the OP is very sound advice and economy minded. He would end up with a decent build no doubt.

I'm going for the 107 build next winter, wallet permitting.
