dumb question but I wanna know still . Why do the pipes on the big touring bikes sound so much different than the pipes on other models? I like the big fat sound they have. I just dont know why they sound so much beefier with the same engines? Im exhausted and Baffled

 

Most likely it has to do with the bends and the length of the pipes.

 

I'm just curious who makes the 'Deepest" sounding and decent performing exhaust for a 103 motor???

 

It also has to do with the counter balanced engine. The standard 103 that are in the touring bikes have that distinctive potato-potato-potato sound, while the counter balanced engine albeit much more smoother and refinded has more of a sewing machine sound. Then there are the newer Ultras with the water cooled 103 with higher compression which also sound different.

 

it may have to do the length of the exhaust and the length of the actual muffler and baffles. the mufflers on the touring bikes are about 2 feet long and are usually 3-3.5 inches in diameter.

i got the bassani on my soft ail cause from what i can tell online it was the deepest sound.
