Older helmets are both Bell Star - but they're too old for comfort now; don't want to depend upon 30 year old helmets for protection. Plus the newer models are much lighter.

I now use a Shoei RF-1200, matte black - probably gets a little hotter than glossy/lighter colors, but that's my only regret with it.

When I first started riding, 15 years ago, I refused to wear one.. Then I watched as a friend had his head literally squashed like a grape from A) us riding like asshats, and B) road raged charger. In the end it came down to his fault, and the cater got off Scott free. He had many many instances from running from the police and all.

That day on I started wearing my helmet. It's more then likely true even with one he wouldn't have made it, but it would've been a open casket instead of closed. I rode nothing but sport bikes until a few weeks ago with the deuce, so mainly Arai, like 4 of them then a really nice Shoei. Then back to this Arai I have now. Lots of friends gave me a hard time riding the Harley with my sport bike gear so I went and got a 1/2 lid. It's a Bell Pitboss. Nice enough, but not 100% comfortable yet. Still wear ear plugs every where I ride..

just snagged this AGV AX-8 evo naked carbon fiber lid...super light and great field of vision for upright positioning ...alot of my other agv pista helmets are strictly for racing on liter bikes and make you crotch down for vision...so this one should be good for the breakout and my hypermotard.....

Finally caved in and got me one of these legit lids.

This one fits like a glove and it doesn't look like a mushroom top when I'm wearing it. Love it so far. I also realized how much more relaxing the ride is when you're not listening to that constant howling of the wind when you're ridding.

think im gonna grab a bell 500 as well...i have a jofa chin strap from back in my old bmx days in the 1980s...brand new in the package...would go perfect with that lid!...and some vintage 100% barstow goggles would be epic!

last one the wife and I got was the Bells - Custom 500,, the newer one are even lower profile.... Totally happy with them. No hot spots since day 1,, but without vents they do get hot after a couple hrs on hot days.
