I had a 97 with blue stripes and I absolutely loved it! I wish I had it back

The Crossbones looks awesome in my book with its sprung seat, but, it doesn't have much of a back seat, you should make sure your wife is ok with that tiny seat before you buy.

If you're looking for a good back seat look into the 97-03 heritage springer or heritage classic, on those, you can buy larger rear seats if the stock passenger pillion is not to your wife's liking. It would be a shame to lose the cool sprung seat of the crossbones.

The springers seem to hold their value more than other softails by the way so expect to pay a few 000's over what heritage classic would cost.

ONce you go springer...you never go back. I'll never own a Harley without one.

My vote is for an 07. I've had an 89 and 99 FXSTS an 06, 07 and currently own an 05, all Springer Classics, plus I frequently ride my brother's 09 Crossbones. Out of them all, my favorite was the 07. I felt the 6 speeds and 96" was a good combination that always had enough power for my needs. The Olive Pearl/Black paint combo and fat fenders gave it the nostalgia look I prefer. But whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with a Springer.

Yep I think an 07 is a solid purchase. I do think the Roland Sand Designs Tracker fender kit would look good on a Crossbones.
