Default Detaching detachable saddle bags

Just got a 2005 deluxe with detachable saddle bags. How do I detach them? They are the bags put on when she bought the bike in 2005.

Welcome to the forum.

If they're like the ones I have then.....

Open the bags, there should be a little **** that you turn (I think mine turns to the right) to release them so you can take them off.

Gently pull the bag away from the mounts toward the rear of the bike. Mine has 2 side mounts and one that is down a bit lower.

Here's a pic of my mounts with them circled.

When putting the bags back on, be sure to turn the **** to secure them or a big bump will make them come loose.

It depends on the bags. Mine has levers. You need to tell us the brand and/or better yet, pics.

Thanks. Mine are older than yours with just the lock and two mounts. I put some WD-40 on the mounts and the bags came off easily. I think they had just been on there for 10 years!

Thanks. I had the bags unlocked, but they still wouldn't slide off. I put some WD-40 on the mounts (I only have two at the top), and they slid right off. I think they had just been on there for 10 years!
