Default Whats this Custom Night Train Worth?

I came across this custom Night Train on eBay, and can't stop looking at it. Actually was the high bidder for awhile. Whats this thing worth? I figure a bone stock night train with those miles and condition is worth $8-8.5k or so. It appears to be mostly a cosmetic build, and sure it wasn't cheap. On most bikes its fairly hard to get any money back on the pretty stuff, but this bike is a bit different. Sure its worth what anyone is willing to pay, just trying the get a general idea where this might end up to even consider a play.

My guess is the reserve is at $15,000.

Not my cup of tea. Peanut tank kills it for me. 2nd is a stock 88". Just a bunch of parts from various catalogs painted and bolted on.

modifications add a little but not much over the price of a factory look. i guess if someone has the same exact taste in a bike than it maybe worth more.

Not living in America no idea what its worth nice looking bike though, different from any NT I've ever seen, beats me when you see bikes like this with so little milage why spend all that money and then hardly ever ride it.

In the ebay ad it says the asking price is $19900...you could duplicate it for a LOT less.

That isn't a Nightrain... except for the blacked out engine maybe. It has a fat rear tire kit, a fat front tire, custom paint, etc.

Some people like to talk about the "rarity" of a Nightrain. Personally, since all HD does for its different "sub-lines" of bikes is put on different dress up kits, I don't get why someone would think they are buying a "rare" bike. This bike is for sale by a dealer and some of the Nightrain mystique might also be included in the price but I think your guess about value is a little low if you like the custom bike that is for sale. However, it certainly isn't worth more than $13k IMHO.

A stock NT that old with 5k miles >might< be worth $10k to someone who just wants a Nightrain but almost everyone that owns a Harley thinks they are worth more than they really are. Go on Ebay and view "sold" listings only if you want to know what people are willing to pay.

It only took me 9 years to get all of the bugs out of my NT. Now I'm starting to accumlate NOS parts for it. When it comes time, I will strip it down, redo all of the bearings, bushings, etc., put in a S&S engine, polish 'er up, and keep on riding. I will never get anything for mine with the kind of miles I have on it.

Just curious why a stock 88" is a problem? I always laugh when I hear this...more bikes for me to buy I guess, I can guarantee I have a 88" that can out run 103's with a stage 1 and to think guys pass on that engine..SMH. The one thing I can say is yes that bike can be built fairly cheap. I just saw a 01 night train on ebay sell for 5200.00..

Here are some nice bikes worth what they are asking plus you can buy them in kit form and build them yourself.

I didn't notice that, but was guessing the seller had a figure around $15-20k in mind. I think its worth maybe 13-14, and probably well bought around 11-12. Though I am sure the reserve is much closer to that asking price. They probably took it on trade for much less.
