I went from a street bob to a Fatboy and love the ride. I mostly just cruise. Not into the twisties either. Its a totally different feel. A test ride is in order to decide though.

Thanks for the info, I am waiting to go in soon to a couple local dealers and do a test ride. After that if I like it maybe talk myself into another payment. Mine is paid off that's another reason that's holding me back.

Yeah, rent one for a day and see what you think.
I have both a dyna and a softail. They're quite different, but I've never been able to say which I prefer, or that one is better than the other. They're just different.

I've been riding a 2009 CrossBones for 5 years now and absolutely love it. I had ridden Sportsters and metrics prior. I always liked the Dyna line however and last summer I was test riding bikes for my fiancé and rode a 2014 FatBob. While it did vibrate at idle, I was amazed how smooth of a ride it was at speed (quiet stock exhaust played a factor). It felt like a luxury sedan compared to my Softail, but the foot pegs and controls leave something to be desired. I also didn't like the riders triangle position. I also test rode a 1200 Sportster. At the end of the day I was glad to be back on my XBones. It is smooth and comfortable to a point, but you know you're on a motorcycle, if you know what I mean.

I traded my Street Bob for a Heritage last summer. I miss the vibration at idle of the SB, but for me the Heritage softail is a much better fit. I am not an overly aggressive rider. I was in my 30's but 20 years later, and I just enjoy the ride. I have dragged by boards just once and that was a left hand turn from a stop light across two lanes of traffic. Dragged them at the crown of the road. No big deal, really. BUT, if you like to tear up the twisties in and aggressive lean, maybe the dyna is better for you.

I went from a 2001 dyna to 2013 fatboy, and never looked back. I wouldn't give up my floorboards now for anything. One thing not mentioned yet is the solid wheels on the Fatboy low will catch more wind, and for me it took a couple of weeks to get used to that, now I don't even notice.
