Default 1000 mile service

checked on price from four diffrent HD dealers and they quoted $370, Is that the going rate.
I have always worked on my other bikes but figured with the 2 year warranty I may need to let them do it.

I called my local H-D dealer earlier this morning about 10,000 mile service on my new-to-me FLD. The price was the same. $370 plus more if anything is needed.

That seems high to me. I think me first 1000 mi service was just over $200.

First service is minor, if you have a service manual and download the 1000 mile schedule from the Harley site, it would be a good time to get acquainted with your ride.
If you are getting close to the end of your warranty, I could see you taking it in, but my rule is nobody touches my bike but me!

You can do it yourself, but don't consider it minor. You will have metal particles and clutch particles in your primary oil from your clutch wearing in, but that is normal.

Check every critical fastener! I do these services nearly every day and find air cleaner bolts and exhaust stud nuts loose lots of times.

I may break down and pay them since I'm leaving on a long trip about a week after they do it and then start doing my own after that
Thanks for the replies

During the warranty period I let the dealer do the service. Just so they have nothing to complain about if a issue does come up.

Yup about $300 for me at Glendale HD. I'm completely comfortable doing all my own wrenching but with it being new under warranty, I let the dealer handle the scheduled maintenance. That way if anything does go south on the bike I have full recourse and no hassle.
