RE: Aftermarket V & H Pipes
I too have the Vance&Hines Big Shot Staggered on my Train.. pretty loud. I tried the quiet baffles but didnt care for them. Guess its a matter of opinion on what loud is. I know V&H BSS are 98db at idle with factory baffles, 104db with no baffles and 92db with the quiet baffles.

The BSS are great, they have a power chamber that helps the mid-range problems that 2-2 systems usually have. The standard baffles bark quite a bit, it can get tiresome cruising at 75 mph for a long time. I'm having quiet baffles put in tomorrow, hopefully that helps...

My Deuce has a V&H Pro Pipe 2-into-1 that was on it when I bought the bike. It had no baffle at all when I got the bike - it was earsplitting. I bought the standard baffle and stuck it in, no complaints since then. It is hardley what anyone would call quite but I can still comprehend spoken language after 200 miles in a sitting so it can't be all that bad.

V&H Straightshots on my '05 Deluxe. Not too loud unless you really lay on the throttle. I've also been told by my riding group that there'sa huge increase in rumble between 70 & 80mph (a good rumble!).

RE: Aftermarket V & H Pipes
I have the V+H BSS (w/standard baffles) on my Fatty...I love them! I think they are just right for thetype of 'cruising' that I do around town and short jaunts to neighboring towns, as well as the look I was trying to achieve. They 'come to life' when you get on it! But as has been stated many, many times before...most of the choices like this are subjective, not objective! Any way you go it will be better than stock!
Good luck!
