It doesn't swing it's supported by the oil pressure gauge and a rubber hose connected to the oil sending unit. Had it there for two riding seasons no swing no leak.
I have worked in experimental jet engine business for almost 40 years, tested a lot of plumbing arrangements, and that setup is a failure waiting to happen.
No, you won`t see it swinging, but when it gets to the correct frequency it will fail. But it`s your setup, just giving you a bit of my experience.

Just curious about your pic of the choke and clothespin. I have a new choke cable on order. Is this issue to be expected on all Harley choke cables, new or not? I really can't stand having to mess with my choke each morning.
Do those braided lines flex enough to where you can pull the return line far enough from the tank inlet to purge oil into a container without having to remove the exhaust?

The ones on my bike can be pulled out from the tank far enough to purge oil if you want. Probably pull out farther than the hard lines.

The clothespin pic is not my bike. Messing with the choke in the morning well that's just a Harley Davidson with a carb (a cold-blooded bastard) but I love it. I removed the EPA de-tuning EFI device on my Deluxe with great prejudice so I could put on a carb. Now it's a Harley.

What I meant was, do all Harley choke cables require you to use the pin to keep it from releasing? I don't mind the choke if that cable operates as it should.

Absolutely not.
