Fair deal, Deluxe?

Fair deal, Deluxe?
I currently ride a Sportster, but recently fell in love with the Softail Deluxe. I love the black / white and blue / white 2 tone, one local dealers quoted $20210 OTD and another ~$19992. Thats ALOT more than I planned to spend. One also has a 06 Deluxe w/3500 miles, stock. Its black pearl and ltheres not a mark on it. They are asking $16500 and i think I could get them down to $16000. So Id be looking at ~$16959 OTD before putting any cash down.
I know these bikes are only worth what someone is willing to pay, but if I can somehow manage to stretch the price of the bike I dont want to overpay. I was looking to move up to a Dyna due to price, but you only live once, right? Not sure the wife feels the same way though.
Also, from the Deluxe owners what is your overall impression of your bike? Ride, handling, MPG, highway cruiseing, etc?

The $20k and $19k prices were supposedly at MSRP plus 6% tax, prep and delivery charges. $3k is a pretty huge difference to me right now, while Im not really concerned about the 96" motor I "think" the 6 speed would be a nice addition but Im basing that on riding my Sporty.
So overall it sounds like a fair price I guess. They want me to bring in my bike for an appraisal and they said theyd let me take out one of their 07's, I think Id rather ride the 06 cant miss what you dont know.
So how is the overall handling and lean angles with the floor boards?

There are other options that effect the price of a new one as well.
Security, profile wheels and two-tone all add costs.
Price sounds right if it's not a black with stock wheels and no security.
I scrape my boards a lot. It's no big deal, it's just scraping, but when you hit the frame and the back tire lifts... oh watch out! That'll put some fear in ya.
I ride long hours on mine, but did have to do normal stuff to make it fit me like seat, and highway pegs.
Mileage is low 40's if I keep it under 75. Goes to about 35 if I'm above that.

I love the way mine rides, fuel economy should be upper 30s per gallon as for scraping the floorboardsI have just a few times, only when I have a passenger and I take a corner with a bump on it maybe a bit to fast. I have more of a problem with the tips of my pipes dragging in the corners.
