I was just wondering the same thing about chain noise, I have a 07 night train, only has about 100 miles onit so far, but i started to notice the primary chain seem'd alittle loud,i have V&H staggerd big shots with no baffles that are plenty loud but i can still hear the chain over them,it sounds like a loose or dry chain,it isn't make'n any scary noises but you can hear it, i can hear it on the highway even with the pipes and the wind, well ya gotta stick your head down there but you can hear it,just wondering if it was normal also with out pull'n the derby cover off.

This is what I am talking about. Not much response here so far. I took it to the dealer and they said it was okay. I will have them really look at it when I take it in for th 1000 mile service.

There’s been plenty of responses here. Have you been reading them?

If you’re really concerned after the dealer said it’s normal and you’re obviously not familiar with Harleys then:

1. Stand the bike up-right and take the derby cover off and use a flashlight and make sure you see oil, level to the bottom of the clutch basket.

2. With the bike still up-right, take the oval primary chain inspection cover off and check that the chain is not too loose per the spec in the manual.

If both 1 and 2 check out, you’re being paranoid.
