I use these scissor jacks. They have sliding posts that sit perfectly under the frame and do not touch the shocks. You can use them together to lift the bike about 16" or singularly to lift front or back of your ride.

Default El Cheapo

made this from some scrap lumber i had lying around there is a section that fits between the two wheel support sections and a ramp on the one end i just drive it on and remove the center section and ramp and that gives me access to the bottom and elevates the bike to a more comfortable working height i can also position my red Craftsman jack under it to raise or lower it at will.

The black rectangles are 1/8" rubber mats so that the frame does not get scratched.

I got mine from a place up here called Princess Auto. Our version of Harbor Freight. I paid $60 for each on sale. You can find the same thing on Ebay, in blue I believe. They are each rated for about 1100 lbs (500 kgs).

Hey nikon, I saw another jack post that talked about a strip on heater hose to protect each frame member. Can you put a small piece on the front part of the frame(each side) so the front support of you jack hits the front part of the frame first and helps the front wheel up, hopefully at the same time as the rear. I also like the idea of jacking up the bike and lowering it down on 2 stacked cement stepping stones front, rear and kickstand. Remove the jack for clearance to work on the shocks.
