Default HD 103 stage 1 kit worth it?

So my bike is having some 'covered' extended service contract work on the engine and if I were to buy a 103 cu in kit to go on my 96 engine i would pretty much get the labor for free and just have to buy the kit.

I wonder though if these kits are worth it? I don't have the extra cash for a stage 2 kit but the stage 1 is within my current means.

Just not sure if it's worth it or not.

What do you guys think?

Bike is a 08 softail custom. I already have a tuner and aftermarket S&S pipes plus stage 1 air filter.

A lot of guys pay huge $ to go from 103 to 107 ( only 4 ci) . You would get 7....be moving your torque curve to the left for sure.

Why go 107 when you can go 120?

IMO its a no brainer.. I've always said when I need a top-end job, that's when I'll do the BB kit.

but now with 51k and the engine just keeps running better every yr I don't know if/when I'll ever need it..

If you could also add some bolt in cams while she's apart then you'd really be surprised with the results.

good luck and enjoy it..

If you can afford it, why not?

Nice to have the torque when you need it.

Well I've been happy with the performance I have with the 96. Wasn't sure if the stage 1 103 really added enough to make it worth the money. I figure the stage 2 or maybe the 107 kit would be the best. I had always planned to do the S&S 106 but now that the engine is being broken down I just don't have the extra cash for it. But the 103 is within my means.

I dunno...just wondering what you guys thought is all.

If you've got the $$$ just go for it. I'm sure you will be happy with the gain in power/torque!

Go with the 103 for now and a cam when you find some more coin. You will feel the extra torque when passing on the highway. It will be worth it in my opinion.
