Default Woods 222 or 555 in 103

Woods 222 and 555... I have spent hours reading threads and looking at fuel moto dyno charts. The flatter torque curve of the 222 looks good and the higher peak hp of the 555 does too.
If you run either of these cams in a 103 tell me how you like them, about your other mods and if you ride single or 2 up.
90% of my riding is 1 up on my Slim. I currently have V & H big radius two into two, DK 636 breather and a Cobra FI2000 powerpro tuner. My winter mods will be cams, headwork and maybe a new tuner.
I am trying to decide between the two cams and would like some input from those of you who run them or have ran them....

Depends. If cams only then I would say 222. If you are doing a compression bump also then 555. I did a 96" Deluxe with TW6-6 which is nearly identical to the 555 and it really runs well on the top end but not anything below 2800 rpm.

But 222s are loaded up on the low end and pull well all the way. I put those in my limited 103 and it rocks. My favorite cam.

If you research on here enough, the 555 is a cam wanting some compression and head work to get the most out of it. One day I will go back and finish the Deluxe. I am thinking a 103 with heads and compression.

What TM said....

I have the 222 in my Slim and they run well but I never had any interest in doing more than the cams with the Bassani, SS Air Cleaner and pushrods so that is why I chose the 222.

Some will ask about Andrews etc instead but all I can say is that I have had the 222 for about 10,000 mile and they really seem to suit the 103 well. They pull hard from relatively low and do sound good. I only ever run solo on the Slim so cant help you out with the difference having a pillion....

The only time I ride 2 up is when my 14 year old niece wants to go for a short ride. My other bike has a spring solo seat so I got a pillion to put on the Slim when needed.
Would you happen to have a soundfile of your Slim with the 222 cams by any chance?

I can get one for you but it won't be until the 13th though as I'm currently in the US for work.

I just installed the 222 in my FatBoy. I had the 555 in my Road King. I think the 555 had a tiny bit more when run out to higher RPMs but the 222 comes on a bit sooner and pulls like a tractor. I like the 222 in a non touring bike.

Think I am leaning toward the 222 cams for my Slim. What other mods do you have on the FatBoy?

I have the 555's in the Rocker & 222's in the Bones with powervision tuner, both bikes have 96's so the 103 will be even better.

I like the torquiness of the 222's better than the 555's but if you like higher rpm's you will run out of power sooner than the 555's which like the higher Rpm's. The 222's have just a little more lump at idle than the 555's as well.

My preference is the 222's, if I decide to do the 107" in the Rocker I will be replacing the 555's with the 222's.

Good luck & either way is a big improvement over the stock cams.
