Default Alert - Breakout fork tube wear

Today, while taking my 2014 Breakout (4300 miles on odometer) in for a separate front master cylinder issue, I also again mentioned to my dealer that I was seeing more "marking" of the left fork tube than I was seeing on the right fork tube.

By "marking", I mean a darkened area, that is either dirt-covered fork oil or wear - I couldn't tell which - in the area where the fork inner the rubs on the fork seal as the fork extends and retracts over bumps in the road.

While both fork tubes showed SOME of this, the left one showed considerably more than the right one.

Since I wanted the "evidence" to show my dealer, I did not try to determine, by trying to clean the area, whether it was just more dirt on the left fork or more wear.

After examining it, the best technician at my local dealership apparently agreed that this does not look right, so I was informed that new parts have been ordered for me under warranty and will take a week or so to arrive.

I don't know if this problem is unique to my bike, or a symptom of a bad batch, so figured I'd post it here in case anyone else with a Breakout, or other model, is experiencing the same thing.

I don't see a breakdown in the documentation I received. I'll be able to tell you once the parts arrive and the work is done.

I noticed a similar thing on my BO. The left fork tube seems to be slightly wetter than the right one. It's definitely marginally more oil on the left one, though I would't consider it grave.

But thx anyway for bringing this up. I'm gonna observe it and mention it to the mechanics before setting the bike up for winter storage.

No, I'm afraid I did not think of that.

I do get a little oil marking on my tubes but its even on both sides with the amount. And I've noticed that the hotter the outside temp is when I ride, the more it shows. They all do it to some degree, you will know and see when its not right or leaking more than it should be. I think the oil in the forks is pretty light.
