Throttle Troubles 2017 Dyna Low Rider
I have a 2017 Dyna Low Rider, I purchaced new in 2017. A little over 2 years ago the bike started idling low, I'd hold the throttle open a bit to keep it from stalling and then i became concerned with overheating riding in city traffic. The bike is a daily rider. I brought it to a local shop they streightened it out with a new battery. I installed an ultra cool oil cooler to help with the overheating concerns. The bike ran good for about 4 months then more of the same idle issues. I cleaned the Idle air controler and things were good for a month. Then more problems. I replaced the idle air controler and the throttle position sensor and things were good for a couple months. but still bock to the same: irratic idle, sputtering when giving it gas starting off from a start and engine deying and not starting back up. I changed the intake air sensor and things were good but then the same. If i unplug the throttle position sensor it will start and run but kind of crappy. I clean my air filter regularly with oil change at 3,000 miles. I recently 45k miles changed the fuel filter it was filthy, black. The bike ran great like new for 3 weeks and then back to the same nonsense. I had also changed the engine temp sensor. Any ideas? I'm getting ready to replace the TPS plug.

Interesting. You've replaced at least 5 things, and each time the problem goes a way for a while, then comes back. I'd be looking for something you've done each of the 5 times other than replacing a part. Also, if you have any of the old parts, you could try reinstalling one of them and seeing if the problem again goes away for a time.
It seems highly unlikely that you had 5 different parts fail, all at similar intervals, and all causing the same symptoms.

Checking for intake leaks is a good idea. A DJ-PV or a logging device on the TPS position would help too.
Read somewhere, sometime ago that shutting down the bike with your hand on the throttle grip is a bad idea. Thinking back, that was attributed to a high idle because the TPS leans a -0 with your hand rolling forward and then the true 0 is elevated. I haven’t confirmed this myself, just spitballing.
Good luck
