Why do you think that is?

In the realm of things that you can be seriously injured or die from, do you think motorcycles have a reputation that they don't deserve?

We've all heard the comments from strangers and people we're close to, but do you think their thoughts carry any weight, or are they not looking at the big picture?

 

This is only an issue if you use synthetic oil.

 

If motorcycles couldn’t get you killed every time you get on one,
I wouldn’t find them nearly as exciting.

Auto fatalities in the US for 2023: 42,514

Gun related fatalities in 2023 in the US: 46,728

Aviation fatalities 2023 in the US: 72

I'll take my chances on a motorcycle. And, I'm also a high school teacher, so we do "active shooter" drills twice a year. Fun times.

According to the latest motor vehicle crash death count by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), there were 1,502 car occupant deaths and 586 motorcycle rider or passenger deaths in California reported in Ca reported in 2023.

You have to put that into perspective.... What percent of automobile deaths is that per total automobile occupants... vs what percent of deaths is that per total riders or passengers? I'll bet the percent of deaths per rider or passenger far exceeds the car occupants.

 

Quite often, a lot of motorcycle accidents are caused by the biker himself.

But in my opinion, most bad ones are caused by cages.

I started riding a motorcycle in the 60s. I went down once back then in WV going onto a wooden bridge and the front edge of it kicked my tire and I went off onto soft dirt bank.

I have never been down since do to my own caution, and staying in the posted speed limit.

The last few years, at least once ever dozen rides, if I didn't drive 100% on the defensive driving, someone would have caused me to wreck.

I finally just said screw it. I fell snagging a baseball and broke my femur head ball off.

Motorcycle can get you worst then dead.

My cage has 8 air bags. That's what I drive now when I have to drive. And it's no fun anymore to drive. The rest of my vehicles are just eye candy now.

 

I'm in the market for a new bike, clearly I'm safer if I purchase a 2023 as opposed to a 24.
