Default Another more legislation push

Yet another push for more legislation. Preventable fatalities in crashes are no doubt the result of better gear, but legislation is not the answer. Forcing people to wear gear doesn't save lives, it only prevents the community from leveraging the power of their dollar in order to coax the manufacturing companies to produce better quality gear at lower prices.

Anyone around in Florida prior to the repeal of the helmet laws probably still remembers the bowling ***** with built in strangulation straps that were more likely to break your neck than save your skull in a crash. Manufacturers feet weren't held to the fire until they lost the sales that were pushed onto them when they could do anything they felt like and no one could refuse.

Education, not legislation. That's what saves lives. Helmet laws suck.

Went through a lot of that when they shoved the helmet law down our throats here in Ca. Big import helmet companies had lobbied hard for the law thinking a huge untapped market. Cried like bitches when everybody went US made half's or beanies instead on the full bucket neck breakers they were hustling at the time. Laws got pushed through quick, and helmet check stops & harassment got out of hand. About two years of drama before it settled down.

No doubt helmets save lives, and reduce severity of injury. But, it shouldn’t be a law, it should be a choice.

Why don't they try outlawing illicit drugs and executing fentanyl dealers?
That would save fa more lives than motorcycle helmets!

I'm all FOR wearing a helmet....by choice.

I wonder if they can outlaw idiot drivers that pull in front of you on a 55 mph road, yeah, happened couple weeks ago. VA is a helmet state, but I’d wear it anyway by choice, having said that, I think we don’t need a law enforcing it. We all know the risks and make our choices.
