Default Engine noise

02 FXDWG.
After driving 70-80 down the interstate I heard some whirring from I believe the engine after exiting.
When I stopped at a gas station and restarted I now hear grinding and or chain tinging. Doesn't sound good.
Thinking cam but any other ideas would help tremendously.
I was on the way to Biketoberfest. Go figure.

It doesn`t matter what anyone thinks it is, the only way to know is disassemble and inspect.

Don`t buy any parts yet...

How many miles on it? Has the cam chain tensioners been replaced?

Mine has 50k on it. I inspected them at 30K. Bike has lived an easy life. They had maybe a 1/32" if that wear.

I know they are way overdue now just from age and last few years, had planned on replacing them. However never around during the winter since 2012. It's retired now anyway, more then likely as time goes by.

Replaced mine at about 25k. Currently around 57k. Newer ones are supposed to last longer.

They are if they're actually CYCO brand. Still, I believe most would check them before 27k. Did you replace the spring assy or just the pads?
