freewheeler dissapointment
Having riden 2 wheels for 50 years i bought a freewheeler yes it is stable however crappy mpg 32 on recent trip, rough ride feel every bump and steering in turns is a beast on my shoulders. Gearing also seems 80 mpg is top pull speed. Am i the only one unhappy with thier trike?

Bike vs Trike???
They're TWO DIFFEENT types of machines!
With a trike you ONLY gain stability AND "more years in the saddle".
It takes time to adjust to the ride and handling of a three-wheeler but I've only rode one two-wheeler since I got my trike, mainly because it's such an effort to get it down to the floor AND it needs both new tires and also a battery before it can be safely ridden.

Trikes are Different.
You’re finding that out now.
Trade-offs include:
More stability,
But hard to avoid bumps in the road.
Different suspension (stock) so harsher ride feel.
Less MPG due to increased rolling and wind resistance.
Can’t Counter-Steer/lean, so increased steering feel.
Many of these downs can be mitigated with Aftermarket accessories.
And a pre-purchase longer Demo ride/ Weekend Rental ride to reveal the differences.
My “Road Test” was in 2010 on my ‘09.
Pretty much had it figured out by the time we got home.
(Another 2,284 miles)

Also riding 2 wheels for more than 50 years. The transition to the trike is really not to be compared with a bike. Totally different vehicle and definitely takes a minute to get the hang of it.
I have the 2017 Freewheeler for about 18 months now and it is a super pisser to ride. I have done 58 upgrades including cosmetic, performance, and suspension.
I love mine but if you keep comparing it to a 2 wheeler you’re gonna keep finding faults.
I don’t really care about gas mileage and I have never tried to go 80+ cause no reason. I think it could use another gear, like all Harley’s, I’m always shifting to 7th.
Lotta guys say that they keep up with the 2 wheelers in the “twisty’s” … I’d like to discuss that sometime … all in all a great Trike

It WILL be my last purchase and I have no intentions of ever getting rid of it as long as I can still ride.
Whether riding locally or on a long trip I still believe the the items that I appreciate most is the Heli-bars, the rider backrest and the DK Comfort Lift as those things make the trike a real "mile eater"!

Since then I've also had a 2014 and now a 2019. I have been extremely pleased with all of them, after giving them a little help.
There are things you can do to make the ride more comfortable, and to be able to cruise at 80 MPH at 25-30% throttle....also, get that MPG up closer to 40 MPG when riding at 70 mph or less.
Here's a walk around video of my 2019-
