Default Sealed Primary

My shovelhead has been converted to a sealed primary from a previous owner. It also has a Rivera Primo clutch.

This picture is with the bike upright, does this look like about the right fluid level?

Also you see in the picture there is a rubber seal going around where the derby cover bolts on. It also has the gasket plate with the screw holes that you attach to the derby cover, is that correct?

it's hard to look up stuff for this bike , as it has parts from different years on it.

Thanks guys.

It's a chain.

i guess it was originally oiled by the engine oil in stock form, but a previous owner sealed the primary, to make it separate.

looks a bit excessive to me..... usually the ATF level is supposed to be at the bottom of the ring gear.

If I isolate (something that I have Proven to Myself is Unnecessary) I put just barely enough oil in to get carried up on the chain. That is the Only reason for Oil in a Shovel Primary...The Chain.. Nothing else
Edit; I do Not use ATF anymore either.. Cheapest multigrade I can find, after all the Engineers set it up to drool hot oil that comes Out of the Engine on the Chain.. Good enough for Me.

yeah I have a primo clutch in mine it won't hurt it but if you using a hydraulic chain tensioner you must have the oil for it to work properly

What about the Rivera clutch, does it need lubed? I seen on the Rivera website were they talk about using type F ATF, but I'm assuming the various vtwin primary oils or regular multigrade won't hurt it.

So, I could run a little less that what is shown in the pic?

all you need whatever oil you use is it to just cover the chain,..
with that much oil you can contaminate the clutch plates causing clutch drag or even the plates sticking together,
more so if you leave it standing for months over the winter without regular rides

ok thanks.

As far as visually checking it, Just so I'm clear, you are saying I can open the inspection cover and make sure its above the chain at the bottom? instead of opening the derby cover.
