Is it possible to convert a 3/4" Wagon Wheel to 1"?
In a crazy turn of events, I ended up with a nice chrome wagon wheel from a 2000-2002 touring bike, that has a 3/4" axle.
My bike needs a 1", so it won't work.
Unless...
Is it possible to bore out the center of the 3/4" hub to accept the inner sleeve used on a later model, 1" axle?
The rest of the wheel and the bearing surfaces appear to be identical, it's just the center bore of the wheel that is visibly different.
For reference:
I want to know if this hole could be affordably and reliably machined out to accept the steel inner sleeve that the newer models use w/ the 1" axle.
Since this bearing surface wouldn't be altered, my guess is that it will probably work, but at what cost...
I'm just trying to look at all options for using this wheel before it goes into the trash.
