Default 2023 vs 2024 seats

I've been told that the 2023 seat will not fit the new 2024's,
Has anyone looked into this to see if the seats are interchangeable,
If they are different can the old seat be modified to fit the new bike?

If you search this sub forum, there is someone that elongated the hole where the tab mounts on a pre24 seat and it worked.

I tried this on my Mustang Super Touring. It's easy enough to do, just drill out the rivets and use a router/file/teeth/whatever to widen the slot about 3/4" overall (so 3/8" per side). The problem is that they changed the contour of the tank and the possibly the side covers and this interferes with the front sides of the seat. Those parts now touch down on the top of the side covers and prevent the seat from seating (pun intended) all the way down.

My Mustang Super Touring Regal is for sale but I fear no one will want to buy it now. Poof, there goes $500 because I didn't think something all the way through.

My Mustang Lowdown Touring (#79703) fits my 24 fine with no modification. Some people have gotten the older Ultra seats to fit by widening the hole for the mounting tab as well.

I don't see any significant difference with the tank shape as it relates to the seat, but the center console extends further towards the seat and most of the older ones will cover the lower section of that. The biggest difference is the side covers. The new bikes are shaped different and extend up to cover the frame. I had a seat off of an Electra Glide Standard that I modified the seating area on for my 2011. I love that seat, but the sides extended down way too far to fit the 24. This Friday I modified it along the area where it used to interfere, and now it fits my 24 perfectly.

Ignore the rats nest of a garage.

On the 24:

Couldn't find a better picture, but here it is on the 2011:

If it is interfering/touching try using a heat gun to reshape the pan. I trimmed my seat front with a saber saw when narrowing and flared the pan to countour to the side covers/tuck in better with a heat gun. Only caveat is wear oven mits as you need to hold the platic in place while it cools and holds shape. You can use your air gun to speed the cooling a lot.

I was able to put this Heated Hammock from a '17 CVO LTD on with just a hole modification. No interference with the lids.

Here's what stops installation of a Mustang Super Touring Regal. The front lower seat "skirt" hit the top of the side covers leaving it's front lip a full 1/2" up off the tang tang. The seat pan is very thick in this area and I think it would take enough applied heat to reform it that I'd have to remove the cover and foam in the area to avoid melting them. I could put a block in there to provide front support (between the seat notch and the tang, but the upper lip would look weird and the seat's angle would upset "the boys" if you know what I mean.
