Yep ... HD didn't ship it that way ... To the best of mu knowledge all the frames were black ... Kin of like my scooters ":>)

 

Looks like Dupli-Color Metal Specks.

 

Color code is NSHC or Non Stock Harley Color.
Harley black frame paint is readily available and they have touch up bottles.

From memory it looks like candy brandywine over a silver base, or maybe candy apple red or a mixture of the two. It’s been 30 years since I sprayed those colors

 

Custom color from previous owner, HD did not do it. Bring to a paint shop and see if they can scan it and find a match.

 

But you have to have a beard and long straight hair and a bandanna to fir fill the look

 

HD did produce one model with a red frame that I'm aware of. This photo was taken in my driveway about 1992 or 1993. The Softail on the right is a 1984 with a four speed. Butch bought that bike new, it had dark red tanks and fenders. He painted those black, but left the frame original. That's my '77 Shovel on the left.

 

Yea 1987 softail had a dark burg frame in the brandywine - burg color combo
