Default Oil change after lifter and cam failure.

Hey Guys, just got my 15 CVO Road Glide Ultra back from harley after lifter failure. They replaced cams, lifters, cam plate, oil pump, bearings, and oil pan.
. Then said they flushed all 3 tanks. And replaced all 3 holes with HD SYNTHETIC. When I asked should I change motor oil when I get home (80 miles) they said no reason too. Now in my mind, I can't imagine that they were able to remove all the metal shavings.
. Am I right....? Just for peace of mind if for no other reason.
Thanks Jim

If they did what they said, that should be good enough. I'd do a 1000 mile break in service for the new stuff. However.... Sometime peace of mind is worth some oil and a filter.

I'd agree with above.. Do it at 1000 miles.. If worried simply replace the oil filter and retop the motor oil.. Cut a part the filter can see what's inside.. Filter will have all that was missed..

Honestly there's no way of knowing if there's some remnants in the motor somewhere. A friend went through the same, and a year later had a small piece of steel make it's way into the oil pump. That was after a few oil changes. The only way to be sure is a complete tear down of the motor. So I would just ride it, and when you change oil, open the filter up and look for crap in there.

Not sure why they felt the need to flush the Tranny and Primary? Change the fluids out? Sure, but a full flush out? Or am I missing something?

The oil cooler should have been the first thing to hit the scrap bin, there is no affordable way to thoroughly clean a motorcycle oil cooler after an engine failure.

After a lifter failure, the cases should have been split.

Does the CVO RG even have an oil cooler? It's a twincooled motor.. I thought they didn't have oil coolers..

I made an assumption that there was an oil cooler, never thought about it being twin cooled.

In the words of a mechanic I used to work with" oil is cheaper than engine parts'!
