Tuner worth it for just slip ons?
Anybody experience any gains from adding a tuner with just slip ons? I have a 2020 CVO road glide and it seems to run hot and throttle response is kind of sluggish. I didnt know if a tuner would help these issues or not. I was looking at a Power vision from fuel moto with one of there tunes. I know you can gain a decent amount on a stock bike with a dyno tune but didnt know about how much the canned maps help. Thanks

in my testing, you don't actually need the tune to run the slips ons on your vintage of bike. Tuning the bike is just a great idea on a lot of other fronts. Get hooked up with FM. my advice is to buy the original PV-1, its a bit more pricey, but its the one i like best and i use it multiple times a week. the OG product doesn't have bluetooth issues.

aLL GOOD advice.
No one mentioned the price of a dyno tune.
Here in the Phx Az metro area, I have shopped 6 different shops for a dyno tune. They range from $550 - $800.
IMHO, Not worth the price for just slip on / stage 1.
I agree with a add on tune, PV or V&H. Getting a better map will make a difference.

You don't NEED a tuner or a dyno tune just for slip-ons, but either will make your bike run better. Might be different for an M8, but my experience with my '16 twin cam 103: At the 1,000-mile service I put on HD street cannon mufflers and had the dealer put on a Screaming Eagle A/C and the HD ECM "recalibration". I wanted to avoid any warrantee issues, so that was the only changes I made. I like the sound of the mufflers, a little louder than stock, but not obnoxious. I noticed no change at all in felt power or acceleration. As soon as the bike was out of warrantee, I put on a V&H FP3 with the canned map V&H provided for my exact modifications. There was a noticeable, seat-of-the-pants increase in power and smoothness. Not dramatic, didn't turn the bike into a screaming beast, but I could definitely feel a difference. I did an extensive "auto tune" session as recommended by V&H, but in the end, the canned map still felt a little better. Maybe a full-on dyno tune would make it run better, but on a "stage 1", near stock bike, I doubt it would be worth the cost. Not for me anyway. YMMV.
BTW, this is the first bike I've ever owned that I haven't highly modified, I usually do big bore, cams, head work, etc., but at 76, reliability is more important, and I still ride long distances away from home, and this bike is fast enough for me these days.
