Default Stripped belt pulley bolt

Picked up a 92 Electra glide sport. Couple days later after 160 miles started leaking oil. Pulled primary and found nut holding pulley to trans shaft stripped. What are my options on this? Thanks guys.

First thing NEW nut , next using something like a dental pic remove as much of the smeared nut material as possible If you have access to the right size die try to start it on from the non lead in side to finish cleaning up the threads If you cant get a die, buy two nuts and make a thread chaser out of one. the shaft is harder than the nut and that is why the threads pulled from the nut and not the shaft Install new nut and get out the torque wrench and let us know

Also keep in mind, I believe it is left hand thread. Verify in manual.

If you are able to clean out the threads on the main drive gear...

Replace the sprocket, spacer, quad seal, sprocket nut, lock plate and screws, big oil seal.

Available as a kit, part number: 40210-85D.

Don`t reuse any of that old hardware, or you will be doing this job again.

Instructions sprocket kit

Agreed. About the only way to clean that up would be to use the proper pitch thread file, place the tranny in gear and spin the main drive gear off the mainshaft. Use a socket and drill adapter/drill. There may be enough threads there for the file to follow.

It don't look to good tho. Probably needs a new main drive gear.

Sorry, for the amount of work involved, I say go a little further with a new main drive gear. Why mess around with a "maybe". Just get it done with new and be done.

And as mentioned by Dan89FLSTC, new everything else. Take a good close look at the splines on the pulley also. YD
