Drain the tank, don't drain the tank?
Hey y'all, old question, but just humor me please? Do I drain my oil bag or not on my 02 Softail Deuce before opening cam chest? Twin cam 88 gear drive, but don't know what cams are in it. I was told that the end of the cams read s510golf,by a local shop. Now I've heard of SnS 510g cams, but not the GOLF*. NOW, my first question, do I drain, or not? Mho, yes ok? Second question what the hell is a s510golf cam? Anyone? Thanks for reading

However.....
You will want to drain the oil tank (or put a clamp on the rubber section of the oil tank feed line to the cam plate) to avoid the oil tank draining into the cam chest. The Twin Cam engines do not have a check valve in that line like the EVO & Shovel Head engines did....
Even then, residual in the feed line (an ounce or two) and residual left in the sump (only a few ounces unless the bike has sat for a long time) will still come out of the cam chest when you remove the cam chest cover & then the cam plate...

Thanks paintslinger, I figure that they're just SnS 510g cams, it's only thing I can come up with?? Cheers 🥂
