Default Sturgis Arrests

News headline:
According to newly released figures from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a total of 1,326 arrests and citations were issued at the Sturgis rally, including 145 felony drug arrests and 142 DUI's.

And the first (and very accurate) comment on the article:

Let's see... 1326 trouble makers out of a half million people? That's 0.3 percent. So the other 99.7 percent either were just having a good time and didn't do anything wrong (or didn't get caught)? Those are probably better percentages that Lallapalooza or Burning Man. They are certainly better than Chicago or any other big city.

Our wonderful news organizations really go out of their way to try and make certain groups (political or otherwise) look bad.

You got to figure some arrests were actually locals, maybe working the event or partaking in the activities

Just keeping a few good old boys from killing someone or hurting themself.

No biggie.

The number of bikers injured in crashes were down in 2024, with just 33 this year compared to 59 in 2023.

Both 2023 and 2024 saw a total of three fatalities as a result of crashes,

I'm surprised that didn't lead in the news reports. People died in the years I went to Sturgis and Daytona, which made me sad.

Was there this year, the vast majority of those attending ride safe and sanely. With that many attendees you are sure to get a few trouble makers but they are few and far between.

The police must have massively scaled back. While I've never been there during the rally, friends of mine told me nearly 20 years ago that if you went to Sturgis, you might as well be a cop, because every other person there was one.

Bikers causing trouble?!?

When did that start happening?

Back when they started calling fenders and tanks “tins”?
