Do the trunks on newer trikes reliably keep your luggage dry? I'm asking because I have read a lot about the older trikes allowing water into the trunk.

My ‘24 RG3 trunk is water tight. Rode 40 minutes in a deluge this week that left us with 3.5 inches of rain.

trunk contents were the only thing not soaked.

 

So that lid located on top versus on the rear of the trunk IS watertight! Good to know. Thank-you.

My ‘12 kept everything bone dry. But, the latch was temperamental, and the door would sometimes fall open.

 

Yes, I have also read about the rear door opening on the highway. I suppose that is one advantage to the top-mounted door on the Road Glide 3: It CAN'T fall open!

On our 2011, 2014 and 2019 Tri Glides, rain, sleet, snow, never had an issue with the trunk or the Tour Pak leaking.




You can fit a lot in the trunk!

The trunk on my 2013 TG is water tight.

 

If you keep the trunk on a Tri Glide locked it does not fall open. That and having the latch adjusted correctly.

 

Mine boot door will fall open even when the latch is locked. I don't slam the door closed. I've taken to wrapping a bungee cord between the 2 door support cables so if the latch pops open it only opens part way and not flops open. My trunk and Tour-pak has never leaked.

 

Kevin, that snow riding video is very impressive. I could not believe how well the front wheel stayed on track despite having to plow through 2" of slush. I had no idea you could do that with a trike. Heck, I would be super careful in those condtions even driving a CAR! Thank-you for posting it.

I love your idea of labeling individual roll bags. I'll need to remember to buy bags of a color that show black marker labeling easily under poor lighting conditions!

And yes, I am amazed at the total luggage capacity of the trike models, both the TriGlide and the smaller capacity of the Road Glide 3. The Road Glide 3 still has at least 3 times the luggae capacity I need for my type of motorcycle long distance tour.
