I have looked online and cannot find an answer to which year wheels will interchange.

I am wanting to pick up a set of preferably stock Harley take offs somewhere to replace the spoke wheels on my Heritage the next tire change I do.

I assume the Fatboy wheels of similar year will fit, and I would like to stay with the 16 front and rear if possible. Really wanting something like the newer bikes like the enforcer wheels, or similar, a simple 5 solid spoke wheel. Want one I can plug and not to have towed with a flat, one that does not need a tube. I see most of the new spoke wheels are tubeless but I imagine they are prone to leaks without a tube and threaded in spokes.

Found quite a few wheels on market place for cheap, under 150 for the set. Then my next set of tires can go on those and back on bike when I am needing tires.

The spokes do look good on a Heritage but I want to be able to repair it on the road if needed.

 

The easy thing to do is find a set of used Fatboy wheels from a bike the same year as yours, then it is a direct bolt on for sure. Newer wheels can become a thing with bearings, axel diameter, rotors etc. Use the Harley OEM parts finder to figure out part #'s, also can use to figure out date ranges for certain wheels. Swapping the rear wheel to a solid Fatboy wheel (any year Evo era) is a direct swap.

I did have to change a spacer on the left side of the front wheel when doing this on my `89 Heritage, PN 43657-89 (1 inch spacer).

That spacer is no longer available from the dealer but can easily be found on the aftermarket.

 

Don't really want the fatboy wheels but if its the only ones to work easily might be my best option.

Really like the FLH 9 spoke wheels I seen on google, but do think the shaft will be different.

Maybe a set of the chrome fatboy wheels will pop up cheap.

 

Going to look into these I really like this style. These might not fit since they are for an FLH but I hope to find something in this style. Or there is a se of evo fatboy wheels local for 150 I can pick up if I don't find anything.

 

Personal tastes differ of course, but I think a set of Fat Boy disc wheels will look really good on s Heritage. They will add some bare knuckle style.

 

The post-Evo era Softail wheels will use sealed bearings, and depending on what year the wheels are, a different axle size.

Make sure you understand what is involved before you plunk down your money, and keep in mind, just because the seller says it will fit does not mean it will.

 

Not to mention the FLH wheels will be dual front disc IIRC

Also the center bores in the brake discs are larger in 2000 up wheels, so new discs will be needed.

Yeah I've been reading up on the differences, probably just pick up this set of fatboy wheels for 150.

Says they have 3/4 tapered bearings and from what I have read that is 99 and older wheels. They will just get cleaned up and probably new bearings and sit until I need tires again.

Said they came off a 97, will pick them up this week to have for my next tire change.


I'll do some more research in the meantime and see if I will need different spacers and stuff, looking at the parts manual it looks like the flstf uses a different spacer and number of bolts that hold the rotor on maybe. Hard to make out the picture, just says 5 for heritage and 10 for fanboy.
