Evo ,CV ,won't start
Hi guys .
I have just been on a long trip through Europe from Denmark to Austria on my old hard tail with kick only.it run perfectly must of the way , but it started to run unevenly at low revs on the way back, so I decided to
clean the carburetor,
change the wire to the ignition,
adjust the ignition .
with the result that I can't start it now.
It's my first sessions with the bike, so I have a lot to learn. It backfires out of the carb, once in a while.
I have checked that there is spark to the spark plugs,
there is also gas flow.
the ignition is also set correctly, with an opening of 020 mm
What am I overlooking?
any advise is much appreciated

I'm very sure the plate is sitting correctly.
What is the correct lifter high? Isn't it 0,020 mm
Also I try to set the timing wrong before , and the she Kick like a like a horse 🐎
Couldn't Carb ba through problem ?

You have an EVO with points instead of electronic ignition?
If you do have an electronic ignition check the trigger behind the timing plate and make sure it is indexed correctly and that the bolt is tight that holds it to the camshaft.
Also make sure there isn't any green goo oozing out the hall sensor.

I was thinking in more general terms, if it has spark and gets fuel a very likely reason for the engine not starting is that the sparks happen at the wrong time
Backfiring through the carb is typical when the spark wires are crossed on a single spark ignition, but a points ignition is wasted spark right?
Seeing you have rebuilt the carb there might of course be some problem there, air leaks or incorrect float level for instance
