School me on the air pump
So I feel kind of stupid asking this question but I recently purchased a hand pump for the air shock CVO Ultra. I ordered it from Amazon and the pump itself worked fine for putting air in the shocks however the bleeder valve did not seem to decrease the amount of air in the shop when the button at the bottom of the pump was pushed. It didn't matter if I held the button or intermittently pushed it the dial indicator did not change nor did the amount of air decrease. I ended up returning that pump to Amazon and ordered another one thinking that it was defective. So I got the other one a couple of days ago and I just decided to test it now. I pumped 30 lb of air in the shock and pressed the button at the bottom of the pump to release the air and nothing changed. The pressure in the shock remained at 30 lb. So what am I doing wrong? I even tried unscrewing the hose from the valve a little bit and that didn't work. Presently the only way to empty the air is to push on the valve stem manually with my finger nail. Surely I can't have two defective pumps!!! Please tell me if something ridiculously stupid I'm doing wrong.

Sounds like you got two defective pumps in a row. I have used the HD pump in the past and it always worked pushing that button to release PSI.

Easy solve, and the problem is the schrader valve inserts are a tad too short for the pump in question to depress them if you have threaded it down all the way.
Hence when pump is screwed in about 2/3 of the way where its seal is sealing off on the thread body mouth, only at this time will it press the insert in as the pump is being threaded down the last of the way to release the insert seal.
So on that note, if you do have the pump threaded all the way down on the valve, but unable to drain the air in the lines,

Use a valve tool to remove the valve inserts and install new inserts that are slightly longer that will work with the pump in question (or just get another pump that will work with the stock schrader valve lengths.
Hell half the time when you have correct pump and insert lengths,, and its just that the insert is clogged up with rubber from other pumps seals, and once they have been pulled and cleaned up with silicone spray, work fine again.
Also to point out, on the pump photo you listed, look at the nozzle of the pump, and notice its a two apart design, and the tip has not been threaded all the down to the lower section, which could be causing the problem with it not depressing the insert when it has been threaded all the way down on the schrader body. My guess, the rubber O ring in it, was not the correct one when it was being assemblies, and most of the problem at hand to begin with.
So would return the pump you have, and go with one of these instead.
