Default Dealership experience -2

I have 3 local dealers. 2 are pretty much the same distance, so I started going to the one easier to get to. After my mishap on my trip out west, I had already dealt with the other driver's insurance and they had taken responsibility. The next step is getting a repair quote. So I called them and said I needed to make a service appointment for a crash repair estimate. Dude put his hand over the phone and then came back and said "you don't need an appointment for that, just bring it in and give us 3 days". Cool, I was going out of town anyway. Made arrangements to have someone pick me up and drive me home. 10 days later, I go in and up to the counter. Explain why I'm there. First thing out of their mouth is "you need an appointment". This is the second time this service department has told me one thing over the phone, but something different when I get there. I just said "you're taking my bike today". The next "appointment" was today.... still haven't heard anything. To make matters worse, after the incident, I was 1600 miles from home and needed to replace the engine bar so I could have some comfort on the ride home. I tried to get the service writer to make some notes about the incident, and what I knew was wrong. He wouldn't do it. So now, they take my bike in for a "2 hour thorough inspection". Ok, what's damage from the incident and what isn't? How do they know? Treating your customers like idiots is a dumb idea....

They must have a school that teaches these service morons to treat their customers so poorly. Unfortunately, this happens much to often. Hang in there.

IMO I would take it to another shop. It sounds like they don’t want your business.

I'd never darken their door again. I refuse to spend money anyplace that has people like that working for them.

maybe it's different in the states but up here it's not the owner that gets a repair quote. It's an appraiser and an adjuster who deals with the estimate. What if the insurance thinks your repair estimate is too high, do they tell you to go get another one?

^^^ Solid point. But they never asked me anything about insurance. I called late yesterday seeing if I could make plans to get the bike. No one seemed to know anything. Then it was "it can take up to two weeks for us to write up an estimate". FFS. They're supposed to call today with an update. In the meantime, I contacted the adjuster and asked him what he needs from them. He said give them his contact info and the claim number. If he wants pictures, I'll send them. I have pictures of all the damage from the scene, and multiple pictures of that side of the bike just hours before the incident. If I don't hear anything from the dealer by Saturday, I'm just going to go get it.

^^^^ The dealer is not going to do it for free. I don't understand why you have to bring it in. Isn't it an insurance claim?

Sad state of affairs.

The Stealerships view us as sheep for the fleecing. There's nothing more or less to the "relationship" than that.

I blame this, in part, on the MoCo's mandated Casino level overhead, as mandated, increases roof costs for Stealerships. This, in turn invited car Stealership conglomerates to buy up geographically placed market areas for Casino Style Stealerships.

This, in turn, put additional pressure (in addition to greed) for Stealerships to REALLY fleece the faithful. Well, little by little, The Faithful are getting less and less faithful.

There has always been good dealerships and bad dealerships. I have been blessed to enjoy relationships with a couple of good ones. Then the MoCo's corporate geniuses changed things - from kinda bad to real worse!

Here we are,

The MoCo has pissed off and pissed on the faithful for so long that some have become revulsive. That coupled with a failure to attract new blood (read: fleece for fleecing) has resulted in my shorting the stock and thinking Indiam for my next touring purchase..
