I heard the same thing on the aftermarket ones. A buddy got one for his 22 SGS and he can constantly smell fuel. This was a used one I got cheap because the black ring didn't have the two sided tape anymore. I have a role of tape that fits that perfect. I ran one (Harley) on my RK for 8 years and never had a problem. I would stay away from aftermarket ones.

I think the original caps have a classic design that is timeless. Putting cheap aftermarket pieces that cost a lot of money on a bike never seems to pay off in the long run. I tend to keep bikes for a long time, and I have removed most aftermarket pieces and reinstalled OEM parts over time. They just work...Just look at any older bike currently for sale with older aftermarket pieces. They are usually pitted and rusted.

yep, second the suction cup or I usually have electric tape to put around your fingers sticky side down to help open the cap, once it happens you`ll curse your azz off. what they dont tell you about the flush mount cap is that if you clean the groove & add a little grease to it every so often it wont be a problem.
