Default 2005 sportster xl1200c Exhaust

will an exhaust from a 90s model xl1200c fit my 05 sportster xl1200c? I haven't been able to find anything on this specific model year it's the last year they were carbureted, and I'm pretty sure it has the Evo motor.

The guy I bought this bike off of was a custom builder and I know the engine was new off of another 05 1200 tho im not positive everything he has done to the motor. (frame has 75,000+miles/engine has about 45,000 miles)

Researching Parts to see what years it fits, AKA do your homework. Here's an example of how it works. We'll use a well known reputable online parts source, Dennis Kirk. Ya list yer bike, make, model & year then look up EXHAUST SYSTEMS. Each one you click on for info tells ya what years it fits.Basically ya need to educate yerself about what ya got. 2005 XLH - 1st year of rubber mount. 2007 XLH 1st year oF EFI. Go look up SPORTSTERPEDIA.com it is a knowledge base covering 1957 to the last EVO year.

Negative on exhaust fitting. Major changes in 2004+ Sportsters. Last year of carbed Sportster was 2006. 2004; Rubber mounted engine, added ~62 lbs. hidden exhaust cross over pipe, larger cooling fins, internal oil jets cool pistons, high flow heads, different cams add some torque, handgrip diameter reduced by 1/8". Lighter pistons, high speed ring pack, 3 point seat attachment, single fire ignition, electronic speed o meter, vacuum operated fuel petcock. 70 hp@ 6,000rpm, 79 ft. lbs. torque @3500 rpms bla bla bla I owned a 2004, that's why I have this info.

Once you verify the year of the engine, you may find a used exhaust system on flea-bay.

Actually, 2004 was the first year of the rubber mounted engine. 2007 first year with EFI. The exhaust systems from 2004 onward mount to the motor, and move with the motor. 2003 and earlier are hard mounted exhaust. You may have a lot of hassle fitting a 2003 and earlier exhaust to your 2005.
