The new fuel cap is a huge improvement however I don't care for how it hinges back towards the driver. This makes it awkward when filling. I think a better design would be to have it hinge forward. It appears that the mounting is symmetrical. Has anybody considered rotating it 180 degrees?

 

I rotated mine 360 degrees but unfortunately it made no difference ... joking aside, I don't see the orientation as the inconvenience issue, rather that it doesn't fold back far enough to allow for nozzles with boots on them to cover the filling circumference without interference

 

Only have had issues when getting gas in California.

Try it at 180. The 360 has been proven it doesn't help. . Just be thankful there will be no more where do your put your gas cap threads.
