Default Making Love Jugs work on Evo Softail

Bought new, never opened Love Jug Mighty mites off EBay cheap. It said “Softail”… they are unopened and came with a bag extra with “touring mounts”.

So gonna fabricate it. Here’s how it would be if I install with what I have..

I think they are located too high. It’s basically aimed above the top of the combustion chamber… at where the spark plug and threads in the heads meet.

Wouldnt it make more sense if they were aimed at the top of the piston at TDC? Maybe 1” lower so fans center on TDC?

Don’t really relish the idea of relocating the coil either… shoulda went LeNale. Also will be doing something about the name showing… tacky.

Yeah you would think top of the cylinder and bottom of the cylinder head would be the most appropriate..
Guess you'll need to experiment..

I never saw the point in these, for one, your leg is in the way of the intakes and for second, if it's midday in Death Valley, blowing 120F air over your jugs is not going to do very much, other than blow 120F air all over your jugs....and you should be hiding in an air-conditioned bar in that sorta weather anyway

If I was having a temperature issue with my bike, my first choice would be to change the cam to one that has more overlap and duration. You may lose a little bit on the bottom end, but it will run cooler and start easier as the CCP will be less.

Sorry guys, but my goals are completely different. I want to go fast. My goals at 10.5 maybe a 10.6 quarter-mile time. That’s first priority. So the Cam that I select the compression that I select it all has to do with making absolute power. I have a heat problem because I’m running a big motor with a lot of compression. Anything you can do to bring that heat down is a good thing.

You've already been down this road so you know that:
Drag bikes are lousy street bikes, and
Street bikes are lousy drag bikes.
No matter what you do, it's going to be a compromise.

Have a buddy, two bikes. One Evo 127 with stock FXR and 130 tire, no shift assistance, no slick is running 10.7. His other modified FXE frame with 130 street tire no shift assistance, no slick is doing 9.80’s. It’s doable. This guy can ride. Really ride. Back in the day his FXE with a 103 shovel and street tire was doing 10.50’s. My entire issue will be launching. Traction is the issue. He thinks I was crazy to try it with a softail frame… he’s probably right.

Id probably go the route of a front mount oil cooler instead if you havent already got one hooked up?
