Default M1640: Cooling system enhancement for 2024 center cooled touring models

M1640: COOLING SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT FOR 2024 CENTER COOLED TOURING MODELS

Purpose for Service Bulletin
This bulletin inform dealers that starting on April 30, 2024, all Center-Cooled touring vehicles will be assembled with new components, engineered to help improve a service bleed of the cooling system.
  • Before March 12, 2024 all vehicles were built with the early system.
  • From March 12, 2024 to April 30, 2024 vehicles were built with early and late system designs.
  • After April 30, 2024 all vehicles were built with the late design.
The components used in Early Models are listed in Table 2. The components used in Later Models are listed in Table 3. These parts will be listed separately in the parts catalog labeled as Early and Later models with an applicable date noted. Do not mix the components used in Early and Later Models. They are not interchangeable. Should Early Model components become unavailable in the future, see the Parts Catalog and Parts Price File for super session information.

Vehicles Affected
2024: Street Glide (FLHX), Road Glide (FLTRX), CVO Street Glide (FLHXSE), CVO Road Glide (FLTRXSE), CVO Road Glide ST (FLTRXSTSE)

Markets Affected
All markets affected.

Part Numbers
Refer to Table 2.
Table 2. Earlier Models Cooling System Part Numbers EARLIER PART NO. ITEM DESCRIPTION 12700183 Bracket coolant pump 26800227 Radiator 26900304 Hose coolant, radiator outlet 62800073 Fitting barbed hose union 26900326 Hose pump outlet 26900327 Hose, rear head inlet Table 3. Later Models Cooling System Part Numbers LATER PART NO. QTY ITEM DESCRIPTION 26800266 1 Radiator 12700198 1 Bracket coolant pump 26900350 1 Hose coolant radiator outlet 10800212 4 Oetiker clamps 26900301 1 Hose, rear head inlet

Required Dealer Action
Early parts will continue to be supplied, continue to use early parts on early vehicles Table 2.
See Figure 1 and Figure 2. How to identify the changes in the parts:
  • The radiator outlet fitting location was changed from low to high.
  • The coolant pump bracket was changed to lower the overall pump position.
This improves the servicing and helps any air pockets that could be trapped at the inlet of the coolant pump to move upward into the radiator.
  • The coolant hose that goes from the coolant pump to the rear head inlet has different geometry and has removed the union fitting from the center.
  • These differences should help identify if an early system has been retrofitted to the new parts. Service parts normally, look up the part and replace with the same part.

that's it

nah, love this bike..I just had my 10K service and new tires (for life) done for a total $592. I just tell them to do everything but the oil and air filter since I like to DIY on those...nice that I can get tires at 10,000 miles or under 4/32 nds or whatever they state

Bought mine in February so I know I’ve got the early one. So they lowered the pump causing the hoses to be ripped out unless you get a skid plate

no, the hose that you’re talking about has not moved.

The bigger change is that the hose leaves the radiator (pump inlet pipe) is about an inch higher and the pump is slightly lower, but that is well hidden behind the radiator shield.

The change to a one-piece pump discharge pipe doesn’t change the position of the pipe; it’s still in the same place.

Great mine was manufactured on March 3rd. I got the bad system

so not many of these new style bikes will probably have the early system. Hopefully there won’t be issues with parts 5-6 years from now.

It should get you past your 2 year warranty and then, well it’s on your dime.

good grief you paranoid peeps.. the purpose of this is "to help improve a service bleed of the cooling system" ... so that means to me every 30,000 miles it will make it a little easier for the techs to flush the cooling system..I could care less if it takes them 10 minutes longer for those service intervals, not my problem !!! not like it's to fix leaks or lack of ability to properly do its job cooling the engine
