Default Hard to find neutral

I have a 2009 FLHP and I'm having a lot of trouble shifting it into neutral. I'm used to a Goldwing so maybe it's more of a technique thing but wondering if there is some adjustment or could there be something wrong that needs fixing/adjusting.
Thanks

Make sure the primary fluid is filled to the correct level.

This can happen if your clutch is not totally disengaging. There are several things that can cause your clutch to drag, and it don't take much to make it difficult to find neutral. Start with the easy stuff first, maybe just out of adjustment??

Thanks for the replies and info. I'll dig out the service manual and look into those.

Yep, look in the troubleshooting section. There’s an entry specifically for what you’re experiencing.

Along with correct clutch adjustment, make sure your shifter shaft on your shifter is clean & lubed along with all shifter linkage.

You need to adjust the clutch push rod. There's lots of videos on YouTube to show you how.

I’ve had a hell of a time getting to neutral for years. Recently changed tranny to 75/140 gear oil and formula plus in primary.
I also only used 34oz of primary fluid instead of the books 38oz. This brought it to the “proper” level in the primary. (Probably could have got away with just using 1 quart)
Anyway neutral has been significantly better. Still have to be gentle with the foot but so much better than before.

They do all do that....lol. When mine is cold, I just reach down and use my hand to pop it into neutral before starting it. When its warmed up, its a lot easier to find on the first shot.
